The 60th
Independence Day of India was celebrated in Kuwait
on August 15, 2006 by unfurling of the National Flag
by the Ambassador of India, His Excellency Mr. M.
Ganapathi which was followed by singing of the
National Anthem. The Ambassador later addressed the
audience and read out the message of the President
of India. Patriotic songs were sung by the school
children and members of the Indian Community and the
Bohra Community brass band rendered various songs.
2. The flag
hoisting ceremony was followed by Open House
Reception providing hot Indian snacks, tea and soft
drinks to all present at the celebration.
3. The function
was well attended by over 3000 Indian nationals from
all walks of life, which included a cross section of
various communities and workers in Kuwait, members
of Indian Embassy with their families, employees of
Air India, Indian, Insurance Companies and other
Public Section Undertakings besides prominent
Persons of Indian Origin in Kuwait.
