Press Release Statement by Official Spokesperson on India’s relief assistance to Myanmar (New Delhi; May 8, 2008)
In the
wake of the devastating cyclone in Myanmar where more than 20,000
persons are reported dead and 40,000 missing, two Indian Navy ships –
INS Rana and INS Kirpan – carrying immediate relief and medical supplies
reached Yangon yesterday (May 7, 2008). The Myanmar Minister for Social
Welfare, Relief & Resettlement, Maj. Gen. Maung Maung Swe, received the
relief supplies and thanked India for the prompt and spontaneous
response. |
