Ambassador of India meets speaker of Kuwaiti National Assembly
The Ambassador of India H. E. Mr. Ajai Malhotra called on H. E. Mr. Jassem Mohammed Al-Kharafi, Speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly, on June 17, 2009. He warmly congratulated H. E. Mr. Al-Kharafi upon his unanimous re-election as the Speaker of the National Assembly and wished him every success in his important post. The Ambassador also applauded the free, fair and peaceful parliamentary vote held last month in Kuwait and the path-breaking election by the Kuwaiti people of four women MPs. During the discussion the historic bonds of friendship that linked India and Kuwait were recalled and satisfaction expressed over the pace at which ties between the two democracies were prospering. As parliamentary interactions effectively contribute to closer ties between countries and peoples, it was agreed that there be regular exchanges between the parliaments of India and Kuwait. The two Parliaments would also set up friendship groups to further enhance their ties. |
