IMPORTANT INFORMATION

As per the existing guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, use / operation of telegraphic devices, including Inmarsat Satphones is regulated by the Indian Telegraph Act, 1855, and any unauthorized use violates Section 4 of the Act. All nationals entering India are, therefore, advised that –

1. A person, while importing a cargo, is required to give a declaration providing details of such goods.

2. As per the existing procedures, satellite phones, brought in baggage / hand baggage without a licence issued by the DoT, are liable to be confiscated and the holder detained till he/she is able to produce a licence issued by the DoT.
