4th “Vibrant Gujarat
Global Investors’ Summit” A nine member delegation representing the State of Gujarat in India comprising of senior Government officials and Industrialists visited Kuwait from October 23-24, 2008. The delegation, led by Mr. A.K. Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board held a meeting with Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 23, 2008. A 35 member strong delegation from the Kuwaiti side was led by Mr. Osama Mohammed Yousuf Al-Nisf, senior board member of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He welcomed the Gujarat delegation and the Charge d’Affaires of Embassy of India Mr. Dinesh Bhatia. Charge d’Affaires referred to the impetus received in the bilateral economic relations between India and Kuwait by the visit to India of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait in June 2006. He expressed confidence that Indian economy would be able to sustain the present global economic crisis. Mr. Sharma gave a presentation on the forthcoming “Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit 2009” and invited Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Kuwait business community in general to participate in large numbers. He also highlighted various other mega projects in the state of Gujarat which are highly attractive for investment by foreign investors, particularly from Kuwait. He gave details of Gujarat International Finance Tec City and also Ahmedabad-Dholera Investment Region. Prior to the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry meeting, the delegation along with the Charge d’Affaires met Mr. Bader M. Al-Sa’ad, Managing Director of Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and other senior officials of KIA. The meeting discussed various possibilities of KIA’s investment into India and in particular, in Gujarat. The 4th Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit will be held in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industries from January 12-13, 2009 in Ahmedabad (Gujarat). The State of Gujarat is one of the most industrialized and progressive State in India. The event broadly explores possibilities for mutually beneficial business cooperation in terms of the investment, joint ventures and other form of cooperation in the field of infrastructure, real estate development, hospitality, tourism, oil & gas and shipping industry.
