Qawwali Evenings at the Indian Embassy

The Embassy of India, Kuwait, in cooperation with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi, is organizing two “Qawwali” performances at its Auditorium on the evenings of October 2 and 3, 2010. An eight-member team of the well-known “Nizami Bandhu” qawwals, who have participated in many prestigious events in India and abroad, will perform on both evenings.

Trained in qawwali and classical vocal music, the “Nizami Bandhu” belong to the 'Sikandra Gharana' and to a family privileged to be descendants of the darbari singers of the Asthana of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia and Hazrat Amir Khusro for the past seven hundred years. The two qawwali functions will be inaugurated by Ambassador Ajai Malhotra and are by invitation only.
