PRESS RELEASE India-Kuwait Working Group on Hydrocarbons meets in Kuwait
The first meeting of the India-Kuwait Working Group on Hydrocarbons was held in Kuwait from 29-30 December 2009. A large, mutli-sectoral Indian delegation led by Mr. Sunil Jain, Joint Secretary in the Indian Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, was in Kuwait for the meeting.
The two sides explored further enhancement of India-Kuwait bilateral ties in the fields of energy, petroleum, fertilizers, and petrochemicals, besides opportunities for investment in those sectors in both countries as well as in third countries.
The delegation also met with Mr. Saad Al-Shuwaib, CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and undertook a field trip to the Burgan Oilfield. Indian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ajai Malhotra hosted a Reception at India House on the occasion of the Hydrocarbons Working Group meeting, which was attended by Indian and Kuwaiti dignitaries.
