PRESS RELEASE His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Hon’ble Minister for Energy & Coal, Minorities Welfare, Wakf, Urdu Academy and NRI Affairs, Government of the State of Andhra Pradesh, paid an official visit to Kuwait from December 16 - 17, 2008. He was accompanied by Mr. N.V. Ramana Reddy, Special Secretary to the Government of AP, and Mr. Ravi Shankar Aisola, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs Branch Secretariat, Hyderabad.
During his visit, the visiting Minister called on His Excellency Mr. Bader Fahad Ali Al-Duwaila, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour of Kuwait, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Kandari, Undersecretary, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour on the morning of December 17 and held discussions on further strengthening of the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the area of employment and welfare of Indian workers in Kuwait. He addressed the Indian community and Indian associations at a meeting organized by the Embassy of India on the evening of December 16 and interacted with prominent members of Indian community. A dinner was hosted by Mr. Dinesh Bhatia, Charge d’Affaires of India in the honour of visiting Minister.
His Excellency Mr. Shabbir hails from the southern State of Andhra Pradesh in India. He held important positions in the Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee over several years, and served as Minister in the Andhra Pradesh Government during 1990-91. He took over as Minister in May 2004 after the last legislative assembly elections in the State.
