The 65th Independence Day of India was celebrated on August 15, 2011 in Kuwait at the Embassy premises by unfurling of the National Flag by the Ambassador of India, Mr. Satish Chand Mehta.
This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and reading of the Address to the Nation of the Hon'ble President of India by the Ambassador. Some patriotic songs were sung by members of the Indian Community and dances were performed.
Despite the hot and humid weather conditions thousands of Indian citizens turned up for the open-air function to show their love and respect for their motherland.
They represented all segments of the community in Kuwait and participated with joy and enthusiasm in the celebrations reflecting India's rich ethnic, linguistic, religious, and cultural diversity.
The Ambassador extended his warmest greetings to all members of the Indian Community in Kuwait and also conveyed his good wishes for the continued good health & prosperity of His Highness The Amir,
His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness The Prime Minister as well as the people of the friendly state of Kuwait with which India shares historical, cultural, trade & economic links. The Ambassador wished everyone Ramadan Kareem.
